Episode 10

US (2019) vs THE DOUBLE (2014) ft. Spooky Astronauts // Identity Crisis

Published on: 21st July, 2020

We've made it to episode 10 of the Bloody Blunts Cinema Club, that deserves 2 cheers! Special guest Emma Wolfe aka Spooky Astronauts joins me to talk about a couple of doppleganger movies in Jordan Peele's Us (2019) and Richard Ayode's The Double (2014). We chat Peele's extensive symbolism, the moody aesthetic of The Double, and pitch a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde movie. Take a hit and pass that spooky stuff!

New episodes every Tuesday and sometimes Fridays! Next episode, we close out our heat-soaked horror month with a trip to camp: we're talking The Final Girls (2015) with director Todd Strauss-Schulson. See you there!

Stalk Spooky Astronauts here!

About the Podcast

Specter Cinema Club
An exploration of the sub-genres that make up our favorite horror movies!
The ghosts of your horror movie club explore a different sub-genre each month! Featuring creators from the spooky community, stoner filmmaker DeVaughn Taylor & film journalist Garrett McDowell discuss the recurring motifs of various sub-genres and what makes the best genre films work. New episodes every Tuesday!

NOTE: We recommend starting at Season 2 (Ep60) as that's when Garrett joined and began our current format. Season 1 was the experimental phase haha
NOTE: The first 99 episodes, we were under "Bloody Blunts" however the show didn't change, so Season 3 is where we continued as "Specter Cinema"
