THE NEON DEMON (2016) & STARRY EYES (2014) // Pilot Episode

"Fame is Dead"

The ritual was a success, he has risen! Welcome to the first episode of the Bloody Blunts Cinema Club. For this pilot episode, I break down what the podcast is all about and a little about myself. I chose 2 movies that somewhat represent my taste in horror movies. The Neon Demon and Starry Eyes both take on themes of fame, vanity, and ambition; using stunning, visceral images and hypnotic scores to paint a dangerous, alluring picture of what it's like for women in the film industry. I talk about these films while re-lighting my joint 50 times, doing Frenchie ASMR, drinking lots of water, and trying to get my podcast groove back. This pilot is a chaotic hot mess, like me!

New episodes every Tuesday! Next episode, we're talking about A Nightmare on Elm Street, Cube, The Fly: the movies that got me into horror. Subscribe and follow me on social media!

About the Podcast

Specter Cinema Club
An exploration of the sub-genres that make up our favorite horror movies!
The ghosts of your horror movie club explore a different sub-genre each month! Featuring creators from the spooky community, stoner filmmaker DeVaughn Taylor & film journalist Garrett McDowell discuss the recurring motifs of various sub-genres and what makes the best genre films work. New episodes every Tuesday!

NOTE: We recommend starting at Season 2 (Ep60) as that's when Garrett joined and began our current format. Season 1 was the experimental phase haha
NOTE: The first 99 episodes, we were under "Bloody Blunts" however the show didn't change, so Season 3 is where we continued as "Specter Cinema"
